- Log in to Canvas and access your course that uses Rhetorix Lab.
- Select the blue navigation link Rhetorix Lab located in the left-hand navigation menu within Canvas.
- Locate the relevant course on your dashboard and click its name.
- Identify the relevant assignment on your dashboard and click Start Assessment.
- Allow any camera and microphone pop-ups from your browser.
- Watch your recording and make sure you can hear your audio. If not, click Record Again. Otherwise, Confirm and Proceed.
Discussion Questions
Discussion questions do not have a preparation timer. Take as long as you need to prepare, then click Record Response when ready. Clicking Stop Recording or waiting for the timer to end submits your response.
Testing Questions
Testing questions include a preparation timer. Once you click Reveal Question, you can use the preparation time before recording. Clicking Record Response or letting the timer hit 0 starts the recording. Clicking Stop Recording or waiting for it to end submits your response.

- Albertson's Library has rooms you can reserve to record your responses. You will need to bring your own computer or phone to record.
- You can check out a computer, microphone, or camera from The Zone in the Interactive Learning Center on campus.
- Contact your instructor if neither of these options work for you.
- Ensure that you are enrolled in the correct course that uses Rhetorix Lab in Canvas.
- Clear your browser's cookies and cache and refresh the page.
- Update your browser if there are any updates available.
- Disable all of your browser extensions that are installed.

- Log back into Canvas and navigate to the course using Rhetorix Lab. Click Start Assessment again to see if you can record another attempt.
- If you're unable to resume the assignment, contact your instructor to request additional time or an additional attempt.

- Make sure the due date hasn’t passed, as the submission window might have closed.
